How to use this blog
Why Do I Blog?
I write this blog from the point of view point of a newly trained UK Ambulance Technician.
The purpose of the blog is for me to be able to reflect upon the nature of the job and how I progress day by day, week by week and so on…
I believe that I offer something different to the current crop of EMS bloggers as their blogs are based on opinions often formed long before they started to blog.
Blog Features
For those of you that aren’t technologically savvy I’ll explain some of the features that you can find on my blog page. The page is split into two parts essentially. The large section on the left is where I publish my posts for you to read and interact with by leaving comments. On the right you find the sidebar and this contains different sections that make reading this blog a little easier.
What is RSS?
In the sidebar you should see an orange square that looks like this
if you click on this icon or the text next to it you will directed to a web page that will allow you to receive my blog posts in a feed reader. You should be doing this with every blog and website that you read. Basically RSS has replaced bookmarks so no longer do you need to constantly recheck many blogs just to see if on the off chance a new post had been published. Watch this short video and I trust that you will see the error of your ways.
The Sidebar
Also contained in the sidebar is a Recent Posts section. This is simply a list of the last five posts that I’ve published. Feel free to check back over any you have missed. Below that is a Search box. Type in a topic into the box and you’ll be shown a list of posts that have connections. Last but not least is the Blog Roll, this is a list of clickable links to the EMS blogs that I read. Click on any of these for a new twist on all things EMS.
And Finally…
After reading this page and watching the video clip there are only two things left to do.
Firstly leave a comment below so that I know who you are and you get the chance to promote your own blog.
Secondly, click on this wonderful looking buttonÂ
and subscribe to my blog!
Hi there!
Cheers for following the blog. I guess your about to go into your 3rd week at the college? I’m actually down there myself at the moment…………. one of the girls in green. Shouldn’t be hard to find me, a few people know who I am…… look me out if you fancy a chat
A word of advise for when your out on the road. If your going to blog about jobs be very careful about a) confidentiality and b) the timing of your posts. If you blog about a job the day or even the month it happens and someone from your area recognises it gets you found out quickly. Although, if you are found out, general there shouldn’t be any problems there are people out there who may cause problems for you. I have a list of blogs about 6 months delayed!! It was easier for me as I started the blog 6 months after I started the job.
Enjoy it though, its a good took for advise and can be quite cathartic at times.
I believe I am mistaken in my assumption of you being on the current course! Apologies!
Hope everything is going well though!
Louise
Hi Mate,
Great blog and a different take on things in the paramedic world – how can I get in touch with you? Do you have an email address?
Thanks
Chris
