Why am I introducing yet another emergency medical service blog to the blogsphere?
And what a good question it is too.
I am a just about to complete the IHCD Basic Training award with an NHS Ambulance Service to qualify as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and as such am a blank canvas for the great (or not so) British public to create their masterpiece upon. The current
crop of EMS blogs are mostly authored by EMS medics with vast amounts of experience in pre-hospital care and have pre-determined opinions regarding all that is the EMS. I hope this blog will provide a less tainted view as all the opinions expressed are being formed minute by minute as I commence the journey to Paramedic status over the coming years.
This blog is a form of personal reflection and I suppose a type of coping mechanism both of which I am sure are not new to EMS medics. Traditionally these outlets take place at the Ambulance stations up and down the length and breadth of the country in the form of black humour and the God given right to moan and whine at whoever is unfortunate enough to get in the way. These traditional outlets are in my opinion still the best way to get something off of your chest, however the Internet and in particular the blogging community allow us to exorcise any demons from the comfort of our own homes and to a much wider community.
I’m sure that, if nothing else, my naivety will humour the majority of experienced EMS medics around the world that participate in the blogsphere.
Welcome to the blogosphere Diesel!
Always room for more.
Hopefully you will find it as helpful and supportive as I have.
Head over to The Handover at http://www.thehandover.wordpress.com and have a look at the ‘upcoming editions’ tab to maybe submit a post or inclusion to the carnival. It’s a great way to introduce your blog to the EMS blogosphere!
Good luck.
Its the best job and the worst job in the world all rolled into one.
Patients are easy once you get the swing of things…its management who will stitch you up like a kipper given the chance!
Thanks for the heads up kingmagic.
