So what does it mean?
At training school 99% of the practical based scenarios result in a time critical patient.
The trainee will walk through talk through the management of the patient right up to the point where it would appear that nothing else can be done without stepping outside his/her clinical scope. At this point the tutor will say “What else does the patient require?”, after a short pause and frantic scouring of the disorganised protocols in the trainees brain it dawns upon them…
Give it diesel!
Now obviously this doesn’t mean via a route into the body but simply to get the patient on the vehicle asap, secure them, provide a pre-alert and Give it Diesel.
